The depth of the VeggyTable is approximately 6" which allows you to grow shallow rooting veggytables and herbs easily. However, if you want to grow tubers such as potatoes or root veg such as carrots and parsnips one or more of the extensions build up depth. either on the a junior base or a classic base.
One of the advantages of a VeggyTable is that slugs and snails do not cause a problem and you are gardening at a convenient height.
Vegetables
We find the most successful vegetabes to grow in a straight VeggyTable are salad type plants. Radishes, Spring Onions, Lettuces, situate near the kitchen door you can cut and eat in a few minutes. This beats buying expensive "mixed bags" of salad at the supermarket! Also salads are quick to grow so you can either use "cut and come again" plants or replant as you cut. A good tip is to buy "plug plants" readily available from many DIY centres.
Other Vegetables
If you want to there are many other vegetables that can be grown. Using the extension enough depth can be made for roots and tubers such as carrots, parsnips and potatoes. Also, with supports, beans and peas can be grown. Courgettes, onions, beetroot are also great.
Herbs
Pretty much any herbs will grow well in a VeggyTable, possible except Basil which has proved to be tricky in our table at home
Fruit
The VeggyTable makes a great strawberry planter, high enough to pick at your leisure and away from pests. Strawberries are the next crop for us to try at home
How much does a VeggyTable cost?
